Reflection on BiBLe - God will never reject u

Had an adventurous night and I tried some things Fun too!!

Someone said to me yesterday that he is convinced that the god is nothing but an irrational belief of mine and even thanked me for helping him realize how this god is non existence ... Shouldn't I be sad hearing all these words and blame as I read all the messages. But somehow I wasn't . No matter how much I try, I may fail, but with each failure I know God is making me more and more aware of his true existence and love.

"I ask, then, has God rejected his people?
Of course not!
For I too am a child of Israel, a descendant of Abraham,
of the tribe of Benjamin.
God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew."

I guess no matter how far u run, how unfaithful to HIM u may choose to be or how much u choose to reject GOD ... HE on the other hand will NEVER reject u! He will always be Faithful to u awaiting ya return.

Christian Ethics - Homosexuality

Reading on this topic, it got me interested to find out more about this topic of Challenge of Ethics - Homosexuality

This topic has become so hot but it has never been an issue of the present only, but it has been of many generations and throughout centuries but it has become more crucial of an issue nowadays as youth struggle to discover their own identity in this new age and time. As this passage moves on one things we all should not is ...

The Bible NEVER condemns anyone for the temptations he or she deals with!

ISSUES of the WORLD

In Newsweek , it also shows a cover story of gay marriage.
editor Jon Meacham explains: "To argue that something is so because it is in the Bible is more than intellectually bankrupt--it is unserious, and unworthy of the great Judeo-Christian tradition. This conservative resort to biblical authority is the worst kind of fundamentalism." Curiously, he intends this as a defense of Lisa Miller's cover story, which announces that we should approve homosexual marriage because the Bible tells that Jesus would want us to.

What strong words he use to bring own the religion.

Judeo - Christian is a term used in the United States since the 1940s to refer to standards of ethics said to be held in common by Christians and Judaism.

What would traditions of the church be without the bible? And what I see is that he is just trying to say that the Bible is none other than a manmade product throughout history. A very dismissive way to regard the bible rather than a Divine book undercutting any appeal to the bible.

Words used such as "unworthy" an "unserious" without a reason and explanation of why he is saying so. Is he also challenging the fact that in the past there was slavery but now no... last time they don't accept homosexuality, now they do.

"Scripture gives us no good reason why gays and lesbian should not be married but a number of excellent reason why the should be" Lisa Miller

She talks about how scripture encourages polygamist, encourage people to leave their family and follow him, Paul in scripture encourage all single people to stay single.

That was certainly taking words out of context from the bible. Paul merely encourage people to stay single in order to focus on doing Gods work to bring about peace. But the topic of homosexual relationship was brings about more unrest than peace which God wants.

Polygamists relationship what is wrong with that?

Qn: Many people use this on me many times "I was born that way, God made me that way."
Answer: I would say, we were born sinners but we were given a choice of freewill.

Qn: People start to say that "Christians are so intolerant"

As post modernism hits the world (It upholds the belief that there is no absolute truth and the way in which different people perceive the world is subjective.) it says that there are no guidelines, no universal moral norms to what we are to be tolerant to. And "tolerant" has become such an subjective word. This of coz would not sit well with what we as Christians coz God has given and implanted in us a set of moral values which we are to live by.

Qn: Christians who insist on moral standards are considered intolerant and narrow minded.

Are Christian really un-accepting of others ? Or is it a emotional objections? This is mostly coming about by certain extreme actions of some Christians who gets o worked up by stuff so they go to extreme reactions - in turn affecting how Christians are viewed at large.

So how do we respond to this charge of "intolerance"

Everyone is intolerant - and it is a good thing !
So Is slavary wrong? and Is rape wrong?
Than why are you intolerant of those behaviors?

Similarly We Christians believe that Homosexuality and Heterosexuality is wrong too. Because it is against the design and purpose of our creator. It is an active rebellion against God and hence that is why is it wrong. It is not coz we are intolerant of people who don't act like us. The standard is a divine standard.

Romans 1:20 - 30
20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

The verse 25 speaks of men exchanging the creator for the creature. It also continues to speak of the essence of idolatry on a human or a material object or animals (or even more than these). And this is place in place of God

Verse 26 - 27 The rejection of God in Idolatry links directly to Immorality and further perversion at the sexual level manifested in sexual acts. So there is a close link between rejecting God in Idolatory with Sexual perversion. The verse tells us that men is created for God's glory, worship god, but in sin he perverts the vertical level (god n men) and worships the creature rather than the creator (horizontal level).... Rejection of the creator, and his design - a product of Idolatry , of rejecting the creator. Heterosexual relationship is also the same - when one man and one woman, were design to be in love, faithfulness but when we go outside the the design we would be actively rebelling against God.

What the passage also says that Homosexuality is not a Genetic issue but a God issue. It everything that he design in a covenant between a man and a woman in marriage is thrown away when you reject God. When we choose to go in our own perversion way, God gives us over to what we want but facing in future the consequences ahead of us. When we reject God, we would be left empty and unfulfilled and broken and we fill it up with more Idolatry.

Paul in Romans says that this is more of a creation issue not cultural issue. It is more of a person who is heterosexual engaging in a promiscuous acts (casual sex with many sex partners)

So are we going to Glamourize homosexuality? Saying live and let live and no judging should be done. It is not about all this but about our obligation as Christians. We have an obligation to present the truth and anyone who stands for the truth should know what they are up against. If this is something not in God's design, we would see the evidence.

SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCES of Homosexuality
Disturbing Truth
43% of male homosexuals had sex with 500 or more partners
28% of male 1000 or more partners.
- 79% said more than half were strangers

Just merely looking at the statistics, don't this tell you there is something really wrong out there about the lifestyle of these people? isn't there an un-fulfillment in this statistics?

Qn: People counter argument is that "what about a loving homosexual relationship should be allowed?"
A careful study has been done , but 2 authors who were homosexual themselves, psychiatrist and psychologist themselves found: David P. McWhirter and Andrew M. Mattison
- 156 couples studies, 7 maintained sexual fidelity
- 100 couples who were together for more than 5 years , 0 maintained sexual fidelity

Doesn't that suggest that this loving homosexual relation is nothing more than an illusion and if Romans 1 is true, it shows an unrelenting lust present. and who knows how honest the 7 were. and All these points to a longing that needs to be fulfilled that is not fulfilled in a homosexual relationships. We as Christians should be more compassionate about these people and present to them the gospel. - women at the well - christ as the living water.

Damage of Homosexuality - Mainly to male
  • Medical
    • 25 - 30 year decrease in life expectancy
    • Chronic potentially fatal liver diseases - infectious hepatitis which increases the risk of liver cancer.
    • AIDS
    • Anual Cancer
    • Gonorrhea: An inflammatory disease of the genital tract.
    • Syphilis
    • Gay bowel Syndrome and other infectious diseases
  • Psychological Damage to Homosexual person
    • Increase Suicide
    • Physical violence
    • Decrease likelihood of preserving marriage
However for Heterosexual promiscuity also have some of these draw back too. So what it is telling us, is that if we go against God's will, we are also bound to face consequences which they bring upon themselves and the punishment they deserve.  So now we are challenge to have a stable loving Christian marriages, and we are to model sexual purity. When you are tempted sin in certain way, we need to remind ourselves that " it is going to rob me of the joy - Joy in God, Joy in a union of a husband and wife."

Is Homosexuality Genetic?
It maybe true but till today there is not one single research that can prove man or woman are born homosexual. The easiest way to prove this is the study of an Identical twins.
- eye color 100% same (so it is genetic)
- If homosexuality is genetic identical twins would be both homosexual or heterosexual but studies have shown this is NOT the case (I too can personally confirm that)
So what we do about the "GAY GENES"?
Human Sexual Orientation. Biological Theories reappraised by William Byne, MD, PhDBruce Parsons, MD, PhD shows that the homosexuality genes are barely proven or sketchy at best. Many studies has been flawed or with a prior agenda to be pushed and the media wanting to say certain things but never backed with actual scientific data. Some Researcher - Kinsey for example has some findings but the sample used were Prison Inmates who were sex offenders and 44% of these inmates had engage in homosexual activities in Prison - hence this findings is flawed.

Science may be correct but when we deal with these people - because they are immerse in the belief that "they are homo" that we have to extra careful when we approach the topic.

What do we do with this argument "maybe with were born this way"
No point saying prove coz nothing is going to get in... but look behind their historical family background. Do they have abusive father or mother or painful background.
Everyone has natural tendencies ... Alcoholism , gambling but that doesn't mean we allow that to continue and what about people born with natural tendencies to pedophilia ... do we also accept that? We won't say.... oh go ahead and abuse kids, you are born this way.
Solution for all of these tendencies is to turn back to the gospel, to Christ who has the living water and he alone can satisfy the deepest longing of our hearts which are perverted and against god.

No we are not picking on homosexuality but in the bible, it speaks of more than just homosexuality but coveting neighbors wife etc.

POLITICAL EVIDENCES of Homosexuality
Psychiatric Robert A. J. Gagnon "Bible and homosexual Practices" has a first hand and good reviews on it. He brings this issue into today's world and acceptable lifestyle was not a result of scientific works but political pressures. In1963 NY Medical Academy says Homosexually is indeed an Illness. Prior to 1973, the APA (American Psychiatric Association) listed that homosexuality as a disorder so the Gay Liberation Movement anticipated that if the influential APA could be convinced that homosexuality is NOT as disorder, the guild would follow shortly after and so will the whole of society. Gay Liberation Movement sees that deviancy is desirable noble way of life and aims to liberate homosexual from legal or social economic oppression.
So in 1973, APA wrote in to strike off Homosexuality as a psychiatric illness. How did it happen with no scientific evidence or explanation why is it taken off? Scientific Research only begin in recent years. We can see how this was a result of political pressure. Evidence is lacking.

Is it possible to Change
Activist finds there is no reason to change... perfectly normal and good lifestyle. But focusing on family who has done so much work on a person - The mess, the destruction that results from this particular lifestyle, heartache, un-fulfilment and more so the health risk.

Yes ! it is possible to change
Evidence : 1Cor 6:9-11
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Whao ! we ourselves find ourselves in some of these sins, but focusing on Verse 9 Idolaters and sexual immoral etc.. but Verse 11 you are washed and you were sanctified. Once we realize we are cleanse than we need to align ourselves with god purpose and to glorify HIM for the peace you find in others but you can't. This shows the Power of God and the salvation he promise to us.

BUT IT IS NOT EASY

  • Some people say they were force to therapy so they change.
  • Some go through "honey-moon" in "ex-gay movements"  but a not enough support thereafter.
  • Success rates is an average of 30 - 50%
  • People start to struggle

But all this, we do not know how many of them were a result of the gospel coming into their lives. But there are places and people we can turn to for help certainly if you truly intend to change. Exodus Who focus their whole ministry on people who need such help and reading up those testimonies of "ex gays"

PLEA for Christian to be Compassionate
All too often Christians (in the picture shown above) says that homosexuality is a sin and one just needs to stop it, This approach certainly lack understanding and probably lacks compassion, friendship and Christ-like love as well. To simply address the behavior is like looking at the tip of the iceberg while ignoring the bulk of the ice beneath the water line. This is a Challenge for us Christian and it would certainly move further than throwing scientific evidence and political issues at them. Coz these people just long for loving relationships they might have lack in their lives and we can offer that to them.

Reflection of bible - Don't worry

Matthew 6:25-27
This verse urges us " Do not worry about our life ... " it is Not encouraging us to have a passive dependence on god. But active and whole hearted involvement. Not encourage passivity for example birds looks for food , build nest , they can't store food but they carefree and making sure they do not starve
Today lets Reflect on gods care in nature , he is not condemning foresight , but to have fundamental trust in god , to see his providence continuing at work in all our life
It is a conviction that god who gives us life would not fall apart ...

Reflection of Bible - Peace

Have you ever been doing some things in life and you felt uneasy and not at all at peace with your inner self...
From as simple as maybe taking someone's thing w/o permission?
Or probably seeing someone whom your family and friends disapprove of?
Or something as hard as killing someone w/o reporting?
Or being pregnant n going for an abortion ?
And no matter how hard you try, your heart still feels heavy...

Today as I sat at the Adoration Room in church , I looked into the Blessed Sacrament and I couldn't be at peace with myself. Time has flown pass so fast and it has been yet another year and many things have occurred in my life. I may have in my own way hurt people unintentionally, broken friendships and probably even rob someone off his/her smile. I wanted so much to have the chance to say a sorry but I dono what I should do. Will he / she forgive me ? or would there even be a chance our friendship would be back again ?

As I sat at the adoration room , my own broken friendships and past relationships I had filled my mind and I couldn't help but to cry out to God for his love. I sat there just letting those tears roll down my cheeks and just wondering to myself " why would God create such a imperfection like me when he is in all ways so Perfect?" Slowly I closed my eyes and drifting off into a nap when I felt as though being covered with a pair of warm hands , I felt so comforted. It was as though he was trying to show me his love for me despite my imperfections.

I left this Adoration room feeling better. Went through the evening meeting up with my friend. Spend an hour at Challenger just mere chatting and listening to an old song I used to hear - Tchaikovsky - Swan Lake
but I am sure glad my friend feels better living the life now - least it appears to me that life w/o me seems so much more fulfilling.

Reflection of Bible - Rom 4:20 - 25

"Counting on the promise of God, Abraham did not doubt or disbelieve, but drew strength from faith and gave glory to God, fully convinced that whatever God Promised he has the power to perform... Our faith too will be credited because we believe in him who raised from the dead  and Lord Jesus who was handed over to death for our sins and raised tho life for our justification."

Reading this passage  i started pondering on my life recently and how it has been and my journey in life with God. It certainly has not been one of hearts and roses but surely I know HE is constantly calling me back to His side.

After reading the 1st part of this passage I asked myself "how can anyone be so trusting of this God that he has not seen ? how can he be so convinced of such a God? " But taking myself back many thousands of years ago, there was no Internet, Media, Computer Games, I phone and huge distractions around... the world they live in was so simple. And these people just crave for a God and someone whom they can cling their hopes onto.

So how has it change now? Why are people moving away from this same God of Abraham? Reflecting back I realize there are so many things nowadays that people can cling their hopes to... Wealth, Career Advancement etc. Society and the world shapes the way we think nowadays...

For example

  • it is alright to have an abortion
  • it is alright to co-inhabit
  • it is alright to have pre-marital sex
  • it is alright to chase after branded goods
  • it is alright to get married to people of the same gender
  • Work comes first , forget about mass, it is not at all important , next week can go
  • I must go for my tuition first in order to score good grades for my O levels, A Levels, I'll skip mass and sunday class, it won't help me get my grades
  • God doesn't exist, he is just a mere fiction in our minds
....... surely the list goes on.

I was also slipping into the same err like any human to when suddenly I had a message at pray one night which awoken my sense that told me "Girl, I miss the times with you in pray" and I also started to realize that sometimes things are just impossible for us humans to handle.

I recall the time when I couldn't get an interview to teaching and I told God "I know you know what is best for me, Maybe being a AED would allow me to learn from these people above me who have more experience and to gain personal experience while in a sheltered environment." true enough recently as a I prayed he gave me a chance to go for a teaching interview but this time i realize, "if given my knowledge and inexperience self the last time, I might not be able to squeeze out a portfolio full of work I have done in School. and if not for a change of P who is encouraging and supportive, I would not have passed thru this interview smoothly" Though I may not know if I have the chance to go thru teaching in NIE, I know that He has been seeing me thru each step of my growth and helping me learn and giving what is best for me. I can safely say that these 5 years in teaching , as a AED or Trainer, I have taught many students and learn from their lives. It has made me a beacon of light for his people.

God answers our prayers but in his own time and place. It is not our duty to question when or where times may occur... but all we need to do is to do our part as Christ followers. We just need to trust in him just as how Abraham did.

My Entire Class of 4T1 , they taught me the joy of being a student and gave me the motivation to want to pursue on this career in teaching.

A lovely bunch of boys who would volunteer to help anyone in need whenever possible.
"Love one another , as I have loved you"

He taught me to dare challenge others in my thinking
A fine gentleman he is today who dares to challenge others on how he thinks.
"by Canning me, how will it help me?"

A wonderful group of girls who would never fail to brighten my day each time I see them around.

I would so miss our cam-whoring sessions.
"they taught me friendship is always important"

The sweetest girl I met in this school, she taught me to be always happy, just like she is - always placing that smile on her face when she sees me.

They taught me - no matter how life obstacles may place in front of you, you must always press on.

They taught me love

He taught me how even kids who have "problems" can still be loving ...
1st guy in my life who walked into my class and asked me "cher you watch Hentai?"

This guy in the middle taught me how to be a big sister to the ones younger than me. He would care for juniors in the school younger very well.

He taught me to "keep my faith alive"
Whenever I see him in school, I would think of the times I spend serving him tirelessly.

He taught me "I can always learn from the young" a good MR boy who has experience in MR and always the 1st to volunteer his services to the CCA.

They only one guy in the class that I seen grown up personally for 4 full years...
I am so gonna miss his nonsense

Song Reflection - Who Am I

During Session today , I heard this song and i recalled the times when i was at the first school of teaching and I use to play this song so often and I question about what i want. But i guess in todays session I found my answer. I do not want anyone or anything for that matter... I want HIS love and HIS kingdom. No matter how many times i may have failed him , I still want to walk back into his arms... I want to be back in that close walk with HIM. My life, my faith, my world, I want him to take charge and not me. Coz I simply have no strength to move on. I teared just simply hearing this song and the lovely meaning of it.. how we were created and fashioned from ashes and return to HIM we will be in ashes.

Recently i find walking with him difficult. The more closer i am to him , the tougher the life is for me to walk. I dono what to do ... the more i prayed for his saving grace and help, the more obstacles i am faced with. I dono how to handle, i dono where to start.

Reflection of Bible - faith

Hihi hope the weeks going well for you, today's reading Romans 3:21-30 talks about God giving us Christ as our salvation and all who believe in Him , Who God is and our faith and how we would be judged equally and not by our actions but by our faith.

Just want to share with you.

"God's saving justice given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. No distinction is made : all have sinned and lack of God's glory, and all are justified by the free gift of his grace through being set free by Christ Jesus...
For we consider that a person is justified by faith apart from works of the law.
Since there is only one God :; he will justify the circumcised by their faith and he will justify the uncircumcised through their faith."

Remember to keep that faith alive !!

God bless you ,
Erica

Reflection of Bible - Ask, Seek, Knock

"Ask and you will receive, Seek and you will find, Knock and the door will be open to you."

I prayed for a interview session and a chance to be a teacher every single week when i go church.
Today is the big day of my career path... i took a step closer to teacher. As many friends i know can't wait to quit and can't wait to get out of it ... i wan to head straight into it.

Why do I want to join?
Aspire to be like all the teachers that are in Siglap and all those who have taught me in SJC n OLGC.. their love and passion for teaching.
Beauty they possess inside, to help uncover it and help them realize
Children are our future
Diamond in a making
Enjoy teaching and I enjoy seeing kids learn.
Fulfilling Career Path ... read on and you will know why.
Glittery Sparkly eyes when you see them understand and learn
Happy to see them each day , I can't wait to get dressed in the morning and get to school to be with them
Impart Values, my schools, family and friends taught me... i want to share with them
Jokes (lame or funny) just tickles me even when I am angry w them.
Knowledge i have that i want to impart to them
Love to be with them and journey with them
Marking their books, journals and homework ... many find it tiring and chore,... i find it fun seeing them do their homework and an honor to get to mark their books.
Never want to put them down but continue to build them up
Obedience to parents, to authority are values to inculcate at a young age.
Punishing them with lame things .. so i don't smash their pride... yet at the same time helping them realize that they are doing wrong things... walking around assembly area, touching the wall etc....
Quitting! The min. i decided to want to teach... nv thought of quitting at all
Reason why I am here... even if i am sick, i will want to drag myself to school
Share my experiences in life, building their foundation in studies and character.
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Understanding lesson in a fun way ... interactive way too... Blogs, Internet, Games, Quizzes etc.
Values driven students are trained from young ...
Who is my greatest teacher... Jesus Christ my teacher.. coz his taught me love when he stretch his hands out on the cross when he died.
X-ray eyes I have to tell how each one is feeling... coz their feelings matters to me a lot.
You can never imagine what joy you will have to just have these kids can just bring a smile to you bad day with their innocences.... nope they are no "monsters"
Zeal to teach ever since Secondary 2

I went for the interview today and I am grateful to those who have given me advice, supported me and prayed for me ... coz I was seriously very scared and opportunities like this do not pass me by that often.
Kinda questions they ask me...

After the interview , I came back and I knock out flat till 8pm ... oh man !! I guess the past few days my brain was nothing but the interview.

Lastly... never doubt the power of prayers coz... he is there, he listens and he answers, as long as you are willing to ask, seek and knock.

Reflection on bible - Rejected stone

Matthew 21:33-44
" the stone which the builders rejected , has become the most important stone "

Reminds me of the work time , when we seem so small, unappreciated , useless, but in his eyes we still are treasured in his eyes ... When it comes to "crunch" time we become important ... So don give up.
Coz god has a hand in everything , we have to trust HIM.

" the kingdom of god will be taken away from you and given to people who will produce proper fruit."

In our workplace and in school , we are called to Christlike to the people around us... Sometimes we love to grumble "how to help , who to help , how to b Christ to idiots who ruins ya day" but it is all these people whom god has placed in our lives that is there for us to love and b Christ to ... But if we fail to recognize him , we have just not used his gift to us properly
